I really like the idea of cleansing oils and cleansing balms, but a lot of the ones I've tried (including the cult favorite banila co clean it zero) make me break out within a few minutes. I'm glad to say that this one doesn't, except for the days where I'm not as meticulous with cleansing and I end up with a few pimples when I wake up the next morning.
For anybody not familiar with cleansing balms/sherbet cleansers, this is a solid cleanser that melts into an oil as you rub it into your skin. Once you add water (add a little bit of water until it stops turning white), it becomes a white milk cleanser that you can then rinse off with water. This doesn't leave an oily residue once it's rinsed off, and removes makeup very well. I follow up with a foaming cleanser, but I don't think you need to double cleanse if you don't want to.
A couple of cons: (1) When I first got this product, I think some of it separated or moisture got into it, and when I used the balm, it smelled really bad, like tea tree oil mixed with old sweaty gym socks. I haven't noticed it smelling like that when I've used it recently though. (2) Some parts of the balm seem a little grainy. I'm not sure if that had to do with the separation earlier, but it's fine once you start working the product into the skin since it completely melts into the oil phase.
I included some pictures of the packaging, which includes a separator between the lid and the product, and has an area for the spatula. I also included a before and after--there are no traces of the waterproof eyeliner after rinsing!
