The consistency is that of a thick cream. It spreads easily over the skin and has almost no smell. It is not a good moisturizer but it isn't meant to be. As an overnight mask it is quite good. One star off because it never dries down, just stays wet and rubs off way too easily. Comes with a handy spatula.
