It's not that it's not a great product, which it is. I didn't have an adverse reaction to it, and it was an okay essence to use before my other products. HOwever, I didn't find that my other products absorbed better as a result of using it (which is what an essence is also supposed to do), and it didn't perform exceptionally better than my other snail products (mizon, benton, etc.)
