The consistency is gel-like in the jar but dissolves a bit when you put it on your skin. It smells very strongly of salt and leaves a slight film on it afterwards. However, for my dry and slightly sensitive skin this only dried me out and made my face feel tight. It is not brightening at all either. If I were to buy it again I would only use it once a week for skin nutrition - anything more is too harsh!
