This is a very nourishing, rich cream that is thought to be used as the last step of you evening regime and it gets the job done. It has a nice, creamy consistency and isn't oily at all. The cream hasn't got any smell. In the evenings I use a thicker layer before going to bed and in the mornings my skin is soft and plump. I think using this as a mask would be wasteful, since it get absorbed by the skin quite quick and the tube isn't exactly huge.  And the consistency is definetly the one of a cream. Sometimes I also use it as my daily cream on cold and stormy days, because my skin dries out easily and it also does a great job at protecting my skin. It might be too much for oily skin types but it is alright for my sensitive to dry skin.
