I'm a fan of cushion foundations, but not so much this one. This cushion is a little cheaper than a lot of the other ones (e.g., IOPE, Laneige), but, like the Etude House cushions, don't come with a refill.
What I liked:
- When you first apply this, the coverage is pretty good
- #21 fits my ~NC15 skin tone well. I tried to attach a picture so you can see the color, but it's hard to see. If you can see the part that's a little bit yellower than the rest of my arm, that's it.
- The packaging is really nice, especially given the price point--classic white compact with mirrored sides and writing, with the sides tapering upwards slightly.
What I didn't like:
- I felt like this had a somewhat dewy finish at first, but dried down to a powder finish. This is definitely a personal preference thing, but I don't like the matte look as much right now. If you do, maybe you'll like this cushion.
- The puff that comes with this cushion is really soft and porous, unlike the puffs that come with the IOPE, Etude House, or Laneige cushions. It feels like the product doesn't apply as well and seeps through into the puff. If you don't like the puff, though, I guess you could buy a different puff or reuse one from another brand.
- This looks good for the first 3 hours or so, but afterwards it doesn't look as good. My skin is mostly dry, but my nose is pretty oily. You could definitely tell by the 4-5 hour mark that the product was completely gone from the tip of my nose, and everywhere else on my face was blotchy and patchy, and my redness was starting to peek through. Some people might say this is a non-issue though, since the cushion compact is portable so you can touch up later in the day. I don't know if this product would get cakey or not if you reapply because I don't usually like to reapply my makeup throughout the day (I feel like culturally in the US it's uncommon to see anybody do anything other than discreetly powder their nose or reapply their lip products after eating).
I don't think I'll buy this one again. I might try to use this up when I'm only going to be out running errands for a couple hours, but the wear time won't cut it for my usual day to day use.
