This helps with non-genetic or temporary hair loss situations by stimulating the scalp for better circulation at the skin's surface and overall scalp health. I definitely feel a tingling sensation on my scalp for several minutes when I apply this and leave it on (I usually wrap my hair in deep treatment conditioners for several hours, or at least overnight). The fragrance is average -- I would rather it was unscented. Hair feels super soft and silky for a couple days after treatment. I've used this for about a month now and see some slight improvement, though I am also trying several other things at once. I intend to use this shampoo for several months as part of my long term hair and scalp routine to see if it makes a difference.
