I use this in the morning as my serum step, I don't like to apply too much in the AM because it leaves my face too dewy so this is a good way to get a lot of hydration and beneficial ingredients into one step. Haven't noticed any brightening yet though. I'm not a fan of jar packaging because antioxidants are destroyed when exposed to air and light so I've decanted some into a pump for daily use.
