🤔My weekly routine of doing a chemical exfoliation has come to an end when I realized this exfoliation method was damaging my skin barrier. After discovering the soothing and healing properties of centalla asiatica, I wanted to use more cica (a nickname for centella asiatica) products to repair my skin barrier. I came across Liah Yoo’s Youtube video where she recommended the Laneige Cica Sleeping Mask for a damaged skin barrier and thought I give it a try.
🌱The heroine of this sleeping is this fermented and refined black yeast called ‘Forest Yeast’ and together with her side kick cica, they both help soothe the skin and strengthen its moisture barrier. Due to a compromised skin barrier, my skin gets itchy and irritated, along with redness and breakouts. After the first night of using this mask, I noticed my medium sized pimple has reduced in size and redness. After the second night, the redness from the same pimple was gone and just the pigmentation/scarring remains. However, I did not notice a dramatic difference in my overall redness.
✨I had noticeably softer, less dull skin in the morning and my face stayed supple, hydrated, and moisturized throughout the night. One thing I looked forward to was how this mask can provide relief for my eczema. Although it does not claim to help eczema, I was hoping the cica ingredients can also soothe the redness and dryness of my rashes. But, this does not mean I dislike this product because it has been difficult for me to find the perfect topical treatment for my eczema. I believe this sleeping mask is great for healing breakouts and effective in keeping your skin hydrated and moisturized during sleep and until morning.
