I have combination skin, but lately it has been very dry. This gel was never enough for my skin when used as a single moisturizer. Thus, I usually use it before some light moisturizer or after hydrating lotion. As for soothing effect, I am not sure whether it helped redness on my face to fade away, but i definetely does not irritate my sensitive skin.
