I've posted a lot of reviews about the Peripera Ink the Velvet line -- at one point, I've owned 8 out of the 15 colors that were released! I've raved about the formula in previous reviews, but I've since gotten rid of those 8 colors due to their staining power. Although lip stains are great in theory, I found that the old formula always stained a neon fuschia no matter what color it was (even the MLBB shades like Inktude Rose or Celeb Deep Rose), and it never wore off as nicely as I hoped it would (the inside of my lips would have no color while the outside would be lined with neon fuschia). Although neon fuschia looks great on some people, it looked quite juvenile on me and wholly inappropriate for workplace settings! The only colors that I've kept from the old formula were from their Pink Moment collection (#17, 19, and 20), which I've included in the pictures attached.

The new formula is comparable to the old one in that it's still slightly (not offendingly) sweet-scented, very pigmented, mousey, and feels moisturizing while smoothing out the lines on my lips. I can definitely feel that there's something on my lips, but it's comfortable and not drying. The new packaging is sleek and attractive (the feel of the soft matte is great), and the tops of the bottles now match with the color of the shade. The new applicator tip is now triangular, which is helpful to define the cupid's bow. I find that too much product comes off the applicator, even when applying color to your entire lip, so I recommend using a finger to blend it out or a tissue to blot the excess off.

And the reason why I got rid of most of the old formula? It's been fixed! The staining isn't as intense, and any stain left over is close enough to the original color (no more neon fuschia!) Even though the staining pigment isn't as deep, the power is still there -- the picture of my arm on the right was after scrubbing with a makeup wipe AND an oil-based cleanser.

Now for the colors --Celeb Deep Rose, Sellout Red and Girlish Red were reformulated. I decided to only purchase Celeb Deep Rose because I loved what the shade was initially in the old formula, so I was disappointed to find that the new color was a bit more neon (at least, on me) and pinky-salmon (I've attached an old hand swatch, back when I still had the old Celeb Deep Rose). My favorite color by far is Good Brick -- definitely great for autumn/winter, looks super sophisticated but not too in-your-face. Red Only was also disappointing because I thought it'd be a deeper red, but it swatches like the old Sellout Red did -- a neon pinky-red. Honestly, I have a feeling that most of these new shades pull bright/neon and pink/red, but Good Brick is the color I'd definitely recommend!
