I found that this is not good for pimples which are still not ready to pop, as it has nothing to suck out from the pimple and you'll just be wasting a patch. It is best used on one that has formed a head. I tend to pop the pimple then use this patch so it can suck out all the gunk effectively. I find that it also reduces the redness and scarring of the popped pimple.
