I've never used a first time essence before. The soybean energy essence from Innisfree looked interesting because it's one of the few that I've come across that has little to no scent, which is perfect for me since I'm pretty sensitive. The essence is a little viscous, but goes on smoothly and absorbs very quickly. It's usually recommended to use a cotton pad to swipe it across your face, but I just use my hands. I also don't mind using a bit more product since FTEs tend to last forever anyway. Complexion seems to be more calm and smoother than before I started using it. Definitely a bit of a hydrating boost too. Not too sure about brightening - there are better products out there if you're looking for that. If this is still around when I'm done my bottle, I'll probably pick it up again unless I find another low scent/scent free FTE out there.
