It is supposed to be used after a cream/lotion at the end of your routine though it is rich enough I think it works well on its own. It feels very nice, balm-like, and smells medicinal/herbal. I took off one star because its indicated use suggests it could be used day and night, but I find that it is personally too rich to use during the day. Still, a lovely product with great ingredients.
