For a cleansing balm, this does not remove makeup very effectively. Because of its peeling aspect, I didn't want to use it to remove my eye makeup. As for its peeling aspect, I'm not sure it does anything for my skin. I think you would be better off buying 2 products that are specifically a balm cleanser (I recommend Heimish's) or a peeling gel cleanser (but not both).
