This soap is BLACK - not dark purple, blue, or green. The lather looks gray, and I haven't been able to see light through the liquid soap in the bottle. That much alone is impressive.

The soap has a strong scent that does not linger after bathing. It's an opulent spicy fruity (grape-like?) fragrance, best for an evening bath/shower. I have sensitive skin and this doesn't seem to dry out my skin or cause any trouble.
