This is a heavy gel cream, it holds itself together nicely and does not goop together, so it is very easy to handle. It is light blue in colour and comes with a small spatula. Between the lid and the cream there is a second layer of protection, just like the Joan Day & Night Cream has it. It is pretty moisturizing and really forms a shield between your skin and the environment - it's the first time I actually felt my skin was well-protected. I wouldn't recommend it to people with dry skin though, it may not be moisturizing enough.
