I picked this up with the intention of accelerating skin cell turnover on my face in hopes of accomplishing a few things:
- Brightening my complexion overall
- Evening out my skin tone
- MOST IMPORTANTLY: fading PIH
This product has done all three of these things EXTREMELY well. It is a great product. So, why did I knock off a star? Well, primarily because of the stench. This AHA liquid stinks like rotten garbage, burning rubber and a tuna cannery all at the same time. It is unpleasant. However, the smell does fade fairly quickly so if you just breathe through your mouth for 30 seconds after applying, you probably won't notice it. Most AHAs smell, it is unavoidable, but do not let this deter you from trying it out.
BE WARNED: You should prepare your skin to be RAVAGED by the accelerated cell turnover. I have fairly oily, but tolerant skin. Using this a few times a week has created patchy flakes of skin around my mouth, under my eyes and around my smile lines. With the use of a konjac sponge and proper moisturization, this isn't a problem but you should be aware.
I've used a number of moisturizers, that ordinarily wouldn't go on my skin (because theyr'e too heavy normally), which have done a wonderful job keeping my ravaged skin calm and supple. Dear by Enprani's Bounce Cheese Cream is wonderful as is Freeset's Donkey Milk 3D Cream (not available on Jolse). I imagine the Joseon Dynasty cream might be great too but I have yet to try it.
All in all, this is a great product for dealing with PIH and the product itself definitely does what it promises. Like all actives, patch test, patch test, patch test and be patient!
